Grant Writer Position Available

We are looking for a contract grant writer to help us research, apply for and follow through with grant opportunities that can help fund both existing and developing programs for 2017 and 2018.

We anticipate there will be 15-20 hours of work per week. Below is a list of responsibilities and qualifications:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants that area match for the organization.
  • Work with programs and marketing team to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders
  • Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  • Provide stewardship to future funders like regular written updates (newsletters etc) to corporate and foundation donors.
  • Maintain records in database a tracking the progress and status of all leads and active funders. 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • STRONG written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Strong editing skills
  • Ability to write and edit expediently
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research
  • Resourcefulness; the ability to be given a direction and deliver results through self-directed approaches 
  • Understanding of and affinity towards school food reform and/or childhood wellness movements is a plus


  • ​Minimum of two years experience with grant writing
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Proven track record in creating successful grant proposals
  • Strong preference for those living in the Denver/Boulder area 


Pay range is $25-30/hour and is commensurate with experience.
