New Haven Schools Grow Healthy Kids with Access to Salad Bars and School Gardens

In this post from the Let’s Move Blog, author Jennifer Seymour talks about Chef Tim Cipriano, the Executive Director of Food Services at New Haven Public Schools who was able to get salad bars into almost all of his schools this year. Chef Tim is focused on vegetables because more than 25% of his students are food insecure and more than 75% are eligible for free and reduced price school meals. He is determined to get students try new vegetables at school since they are not getting a lot of veggies at home.
