Travel Tips

FLIGHTS & AIRPORTS

If you’d like to participate fully in Day 1 on Monday, we recommend arriving on Sunday evening. If you’d like to stay for lunch on Day 2, please plan to depart in the mid-afternoon or later on Tuesday.

The easiest airport for access to Berkeley is Oakland (OAK), which is about 25 minutes away by car – varies based on traffic.

For additional flight options, you can consider the following airports:

  • San Jose Mineta International Airport (1 hr 47 mins by car)
  • San Francisco International Airport (56 mins by car)*
  • Sacramento International Airport (2hrs 48 mins)

*Note that SFO is often affected by flight delays.

Day 1: We will be at Shattuck Hotel Plaza until 3pm, followed by graduation and dinner at the David Brower Center, which is just down the block.

Preferred parking for events / stays at Hotel Shattuck are these two garages:

Day 2: We will be touring the Berkeley USD kitchen and Edible Schoolyard at MLK Jr. Middle School which is 1.3 miles from the hotel. Due to extremely limited parking near the school, we ask that you either enjoy the walk or carpool using a ride-share service such as Uber or Lyft.

HOTELS

Please use this link to book a room at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza under the Chef Ann Foundation’s group rate for this event (note that a limited number of rooms are also available prior to and after our event dates for those who would like to stay longer).
