Intern

Tayler Upton is a Master of Science in Dietetics with a Dietetic Internship student through the University of Northern Colorado. Based in Port Hueneme, California, Tayler brings a unique background in culinary arts, nutrition coaching, and strength and conditioning to her dietetics work.

Tayler studied Culinary Arts and Clinical Dietetics at Johnson & Wales University, where her love of food grew into a passion for helping people connect nutrition education with practical, enjoyable cooking. Before beginning her dietetic internship, she spent nearly a decade owning and operating a CrossFit gym, where she coached athletes, developed wellness programs, and supported clients through nutrition education and sustainable behavior change. She has also worked as a private chef and nutrition coach, creating meal plans for individuals and families with a wide range of health and performance goals.

Tayler is especially excited to begin her community nutrition rotation with the Chef Ann Foundation, an organization she has admired for years. Long term, she hopes to work as a dietitian supporting adolescents and improving early nutrition, especially through school and community-based food systems. Outside of school and work, Tayler enjoys cooking, training, exploring the outdoors, and spending time near the ocean with her partner and their three dogs.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
