In this article from the Wagner Food Policy Alliance, author Jennifer M. Gomez discusses how the biggest problem in public school lunch is that the USDA regulates the program (that's according to Chef Kate Adamick). The issue? The USDA’s main objective is to produce and sell food, and schools that take part in the program--where the food gets made at processing plants--get cash subsidies and donated commodities for every meal they sell.
