Director of Food Service

My name is Mike Bottarini. I am a fun loving, devoted husband to my amazing wife Megan, proud father to our beautiful little girl McKinley, and we are expecting another little girl in March 2024.

I grew up in Los Gatos, California (Bay Area) and after high school I spent 5 years in San Luis Obispo at Cal Poly completing my Bachelors of Science degree in Nutrition. After college I returned to the Bay Area during the .com era and got an entry level job in the computer industry working my way up to project manager at a hardware engineering company in less than 2 years. Soon after the market crashed, I turned to my passion of Food Service Management and spent 15 years Supervising and Directing government regulated kitchens in nursing homes. In 2018 an opportunity presented itself within the school system and I have never looked back. I am still learning everyday and I look forward to this opportunity with CAF.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K-12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
