In his role, he will work to provide technical assistance to host districts supporting pre-apprentices and their mission to provide a work-based learning opportunity for those interested in school nutrition as a career.

Dustin joins us from Queen Creek Unified School District where he worked as the Director of Child Nutrition. One of his positive attributions to promoting healthy school meals is his food truck project which focused on a combination of speed and scratch cooked items for the students weekly in addition to partnering with True Garden, a local aeroponic food farm that provided a variety of lettuces for his students.

He earned his BS in Nutrition and M.Ed. in Higher & Postsecondary Education focusing on student advocacy, academic support, and the American community college system. To help promote change, he has been a volunteer for the Equity Action Committee in his previous school district where he promoted cultural awareness and focused on initiatives to decrease food insecurity in the community. He served as Spokesperson for the Arizona School Nutrition Programs Advisory Council and participated in the Creating Your Kitchen initiative through the Chef Ann Foundation and Arizona Department of Education.

In his free time, he takes baking classes at the local flour mill, volunteers as a counselor for LGBTQ+ youth, and spends time with his husband and two chow chow babies. One of his most memorable experiences was his cooking tour in Italy where he got to make fresh pasta and shop for local ingredients at the farmers market.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
