Laura Smith

Program Director of Workforce Development

Laura re-joined Chef Ann’s world in June 2022 as Program Director of Workforce Development. Laura started her school food journey at Boulder Valley School District, implementing the district’s farm-to-school, nutrition education, and local food promotion programs.

Laura re-joined Chef Ann’s world in June 2022 as Program Director of Workforce Development. Laura started her school food journey at Boulder Valley School District, implementing the district’s farm-to-school, nutrition education, and local food promotion programs.

After a few years of working in traditional public health, Laura is excited to become part of the CAF team. Laura received her B.A. in Psychology from Bates College and Masters of Public Health from the Colorado School of Public Health. School food is the world she never knew she needed to be a part of until she was. Laura currently lives in Boise, Idaho with her husband and their very fuzzy cat.

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
