School Food Operations Specialist

Rachel joined the Chef Ann team in January of 2023. In this role she works with schools around the country supporting districts’ transition to scratch cooking.

Rachel grew up on her family’s ranch in southeastern Colorado, at a young age she learned the importance of where food comes from and the extensive care that goes into it.

After earning a culinary degree she spent time as a chef in restaurants all over the Colorado foothills. More recently, she worked for The School Food Project, Boulder Valley School District’s food services program. Prior to that, she was a Production Kitchen Manager for Jefferson County Public schools.

She believes her work in school food has been the most important job she’s had and that all kids deserve fresh, healthy, delicious food.

Rachel lives in Golden, Colorado. In her free time she’s either mountain biking, backcountry skiing, fly fishing or adventuring with her husband Yuri and three dogs Buster, Ivan and Tip.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
