About the 2025 collection

What better way to showcase eating the rainbow than this colorful collection of fruits and vegetables served in schools? The 2025 collection of Renegade Lunch Lady tea towels was thoughtfully crafted in collaboration with Susan Hazel Rich of Hazelmade to bring a fresh, elegant touch to your home. These towels feature original illustrations hand-drawn by Susan. Each towel is sewn in the Midwest from the highest-quality 100% cotton flour sack fabric.

In addition to Susan’s gorgeous designs, we chose to work with Hazelmade for this year’s collection because of her dedication to quality and sustainability. Her products are intentionally crafted with low-waste design, water-based inks, and, whenever possible, plastic-free packaging.

About the towels

  • More absorbent - Hazelmade’s towels are intentionally designed with a “drop design” rather than an edge-to-edge pattern. This style has a hidden function; a wide fabric border around the design creates a towel with an increased area for extra absorbency. The drop design style was popular in the 1940s and 50s to marry beauty and durability into an everyday object.
    • These motifs will display best when folded to drape over oven handles or towel racks.
  • 100% cotton flour sack - The towels are made of bright white, 100% cotton woven in a true “flour sack” weave. This means that little diamond-shaped “baskets” are woven into the fabric. These baskets “scoop” up moisture and flex in the opposite direction to release stains incredibly well.
  • Meant to last - Hazelmade uses a double heat set process to fuse the water-based inks directly to the fabric. The double heat set ensures the colors and ink will hold up over many years of washing, drying, and use. The result is a higher-quality product, and less waste ends up in landfills when an object lasts longer.
  • Machine wash and dry - You can machine wash and dry these towels. For more on care, see Susan’s care instructions.
  • Midwest-made and USA-sourced - These towels were designed and finished in the Hazelmade studio in Kent, Ohio. The finishing process is done entirely by hand and includes carefully inspecting each piece for exceptional quality, precisely assembling, and delicately folding. Hazelmade’s entire collection of tea towels are expertly sewn and professionally printed in the Midwest.

As you can tell, no detail is spared to ensure a quality product. We hope these bring a bright and colorful flare to your kitchens!
