Dustin is the Director of Food Services for Napa Valley Unified School District in California, where scratch cooking serves as the centerpiece of the department’s operations. With a career in school nutrition spanning over a decade, Dustin has become a dedicated leader in the movement to transition school meal programs toward fresh, sustainable, and student-focused dining.

Dustin’s journey with the Chef Ann Foundation began during his tenure as Director of Child Nutrition at Queen Creek Unified School District in Arizona, where his district participated in the Creating Your Kitchen program. This experience sparked a deep commitment to school food reform, leading him to join the Chef Ann Foundation team as a Senior School Food Specialist. During his two years with the foundation, Dustin focused on the implementation of the Healthy School Food Pathway program across California, helping to build the workforce and infrastructure necessary for scratch-cook operations.

Now leading the team at Napa Valley USD, Dustin continues to apply his expertise in operational change and culinary innovation to ensure that whole-ingredient meals are the standard for his community.

Who We Are

The Chef Ann Foundation is dedicated to promoting whole-ingredient, scratch-cooking in schools. Scratch-cooking enables schools to serve the healthiest, tastiest meals so that kids are well-fed and ready to learn.

Our Mission

Ensure that school food professionals have the resources, funding and support they need to provide fresh, healthy, delicious, cook from scratch meals that support the health of children and our planet.

Why School Food Matters

American kids start their life-path in K–12 schools where they learn the skills necessary to thrive & meet their potential. While the country debates the best ways to teach them math, science & English, we spend little to no time on food & nutrition.
